The Short Answer

Use day one for the beach and Da Nang city, day two for Marble Mountains and Hoi An, day three for Ba Na Hills, and day four for Son Tra Peninsula plus flexible beach time. This order leaves room to swap the mountain days when clouds or rain reduce visibility.

Stay near My Khe Beach for a holiday atmosphere or near the Han River for city dining and easier evening walks. Families and slower travellers may prefer five days so Ba Na Hills and Hoi An do not feel compressed.

Day 1: My Khe Beach and the Han River

After check-in, take an easy walk along My Khe Beach and save swimming for patrolled areas with suitable sea conditions. Later, cross into the city centre for Han Market, the riverside and local dishes such as mi quang and banh xeo.

See the Dragon Bridge after dark, especially when an official weekend performance is scheduled. Do not design the whole evening around the show without confirming the latest local timetable.

  • Follow lifeguard flags and avoid swimming in rough conditions.
  • Choose the beachfront for resorts and the riverfront for urban convenience.
  • Keep the first day light after a flight or long transfer.

Day 2: Marble Mountains and Hoi An

Visit the Marble Mountains earlier in the day to avoid the strongest heat. The site includes steep steps, caves and religious spaces, so supportive footwear and respectful clothing are important. A lift covers only part of the visit.

Continue to Hoi An in the afternoon. Walk the old town, see its historic houses and riverside lanes, then stay through early evening as lanterns appear. Return to Da Nang after dinner, or overnight in Hoi An when atmosphere matters more than keeping one hotel base.

  • Allow more time than expected for cave and temple stops.
  • Avoid disposable lantern releases and choose lower-impact local experiences.
  • Book a private transfer when travelling with young children or seniors.

Day 3: Ba Na Hills without overpacking the day

Ba Na Hills is a full resort complex rather than only the Golden Bridge. Go early, expect queues at popular viewpoints and check visibility before departure. Mountain weather can differ from the coast, so take a light layer even when Da Nang is warm.

If theme-park attractions are not your style, replace this day with a cooking class, Hai Van Pass scenic drive or more time in Hoi An. The best itinerary reflects your interests rather than treating every famous photo stop as mandatory.

  • Buy only through official or trusted channels.
  • Plan for a full day including transfers and cable-car queues.
  • Keep day four flexible in case weather forces a swap.

Day 4: Son Tra Peninsula and a slow finish

Visit Linh Ung Pagoda and selected viewpoints on Son Tra Peninsula with a responsible driver. Access rules and road conditions can change, and wildlife should never be fed or approached for photographs.

Return for lunch, beach time or a spa before departure. If your flight leaves early, move Son Tra to day one and keep this final morning close to the hotel.
